GAMBERINI, Claudio Born 1895, died 1965 Pieve di Cento, Bologna Italy. Pupil of Mozzani. Good quality commercial work. All edges softened and rather indistinct, but consistently well-made. Personal model with broad purfling and rather small scroll. Often used unusually figured wood with a thin but deeply coloured dark red-brown varnish. Made all members of the violin family including double basses; also guitars.
