GLÄSSL, Hermann (I) Born 1889 As (formerly Asch) Czech Republic. Apprenticed to his uncle Andreas Glässl in Hamburg 1903-1907. Also trained in fine cabinet making. Worked for Zust in Zurich 1909, for Vrint in London, and Wittmann in Vienna. Established in Munich 1912. Military service 1915-1918, resumed work in 1919. Credited with over 100 instruments on Stradivari, Guarneri, and personal models. Many close copies of individual classical instruments with ‘antiqued’ finish, given facsimile labels, but also branded with his own name. Hermann Glässl / Nr. 63 München, anno 1919
