AERTS, René Born 1883 Mirecourt France, died 1942 Los Angeles USA. Apprenticed in Mirecourt. Worked in Germany and England before establishing his own shop in Brussels in 1921 at 7, avenue de la Régence. Succeeded Darche as luthier to the Conservatoire. Emigrated to Los Angeles in 1932 with his son Marcel. Excellent copies of classical masters, including Guadagnini and Gagliano. Furnished a set of instruments for the ‘Pro Arte’ quartet.
