John Dilworth

DUGAD, André Paul Born 1900 Besançon, died 1970 Paris France. Violin and bow maker. Worked for Caressa & Français in Paris 1920-1932. Established independently at 15 rue de Moscou in 1932, joined in 1934 by J. Fétique. Violin maker specialising in Guadagnini copies. Commenced bow making c.1938 under the influence of Fétique, who left the partnership in 1950. Continued working alone, making a modest number of violins and bows. Medals awarded in the Paris Expositions 1937 and 1942; diploma of honour the Hague 1949. Became Officier de l’Académie having been for many years luthier repairer at the Paris Conservatoire.
