Seit seinem 18. Jahre beschäftigte er sich mit dem Geigenmachen und studirte die Werke der grossen Meister. Im October 1893 eröffnete er in der Rue Manton-Duvenest No. 5 seine Werkstatt, macht hauptsächlich Nachahmungen von Stradivari’s »Messias« und verwendet Öllack.
